When you live in a rental and have a manager who acts on behalf of the owner, you want to make sure you get on the right side of the manager and build a comfortable and professional relationship with them. This is going to help you enjoy your living environment more and help things go smoothly all around. Here are some of the things you should consider doing when you have a manager who tends to your rental:

Pay your rent on time and in the preferred method

One of the best things you can do in order to get on the good side of your manager is to make sure you always have your rent in on time. Also, it is important for you to pay your rent using the preferred method and the method that you agreed to pay in when you signed the lease with the manager. Be sure you have the funds available in your bank account, so you don't end up bouncing a check. If you do bounce a check, then understand the manager has the right to refuse checks from you in the future and this can make things more difficult for you each month, because you will have to find other ways to pay, such as with money orders or cashier's checks.

Go over your lease more than once

You want to make sure you read your lease completely before you sign it. Also, you should be sure you look at it again once you are at home, where you can really take it all in. This way, you know that you aren't going to end up forgetting something that is in it that can end up causing you problems if you don't follow what is in it. If at any point in time you want to refer to the lease, you should know exactly where it is and it can also be a good idea to make a copy to put in a very safe place, along with one you keep in a convenient place.

Take great care of the property

One of the most important things to do as a renter is to make sure you are taking excellent care of the rental. This means keeping it clean, not making any unapproved changes to it and making sure you report anything that breaks or needs other types of repairing or maintenance right away. If you put off calling the manager about things that need repairing, it can even lead to permanent damages in some cases, which your manager is definitely not going to appreciate.
