If you're looking to sell your home, there are a few things you need to do to get it sold quickly and for more money. There are some updates you should make around your home, as well as some cleaning and organizing tasks in order to get your home in top shape before you list it on the market. See below for a list of things you should do before you list your home. It could help make your home sell faster and for even more money.

List It Below The Market Value

Don't try to list your home for a high dollar amount; it may scare some potential buyers off. Instead, figure out the market value for homes in your area and then list your home slightly below that amount. This will help create an interest in your home and can give you multiple offers. From there, you can choose the one that is best.

Add Interest To The Exterior

To set your home apart from any others in your neighborhood that are for sale, you should add interest to the exterior. Paint your front door a bright color such as yellow, blue or red, or if you aren't thrilled about adding color, paint it with a fresh coat of white or even black. Paint the shutters on your home to brighten them up a bit as well. Trim the landscaping and add new landscaping such as flowers in your flower beds.

Also be sure to give your driveway a fresh look by having the asphalt sealed, or staining a concrete driveway for an updated look.

Brighten Up The Interior

A dark interior can make your home feel cold and make rooms appear smaller. Brighten up the space by adding more light, opening up the blinds and curtains for more natural light in all of the rooms in your home, and paint the rooms a lighter, more neutral color. Dark paint may be your thing, but a potential buyer may not like that look. Paint the entire home with neutral colors. A fresh coat of paint doesn't cost much and is a cheap way to update your home.

Cut The Clutter

Remove about half of what you have in your home, so your house looks less cluttered and appears larger. This goes for closets as well. Remove as much as you can to make your home feel larger and to help stage your home. Remove picture frames and collectibles from your home, and remove some furniture if need be to make rooms feel larger.

Talk to your realtor about what else you can do to get your home to sell faster and for more money.
